The next phase of the ‘Joy of Wexford’ campaign began this week with advertisements on RTE One and RTE Two television. The advertisements will be aired at primetime slots during the Cheltenham Races coverage, the six and nine pm news and other key slots. This follows on from an extensive radio advertising campaign on Today FM in October and November. Launches are also scheduled to take place in the three other commercial centres in County Wexford to ensure that all areas of the county are actively involved and benefit from this promotion.

Last weekend ‘The Joy of Wexford’ campaign hosted a sponsored reception for the Progressive Democrats Annual Conference. The conference with 1,000 delegates, is one of the largest to be hosted in County Wexford in many years and ‘The Joy of Wexford’ steering group is working hard to ensure it is just the first of many.
At the reception, the Steering Group met with An Tanaiste, Michael McDowell, Minister for Health, Mary Harney and many senior advisers to the Progressive Democrats. It was an opportunity to brief them on the work of the ‘Joy of Wexford’ and also to promote the county. The reception also featured a ‘Taste of Wexford’ which was a selection of local produce from Wexford Creamery, Ballycross Apple Farm, Carrigbyrne Farmhouse Cheese and Paganini.
County Wexford ’s first cross sector marketing campaign was launched on Wednesday last in the Ferrycarrig hotel. ‘Marketing Wexford’, chaired by Celtic Managing Director, Philip Scallan launched this multi-faceted campaign to promote County Wexford. The impressive audience was made up of County Wexford business people and local authority representatives.
Philip Scallan began by outlining the concept behind the campaign and highlighting the need and benefits of attracting people to come to Wexford to live, work, visit and set up business. He went on to describe how ‘Marketing Wexford’ engaged in a brand development and marketing strategy for the county with the help of New Ross based Marketing Agency Angel. Market Research was undertaken by leading experts Lansdowne Market Research. From this a communications campaign entitled “The Joy of Wexford” was developed focussing on the benefits that Wexford enjoys as a result of being the county with the most sunshine in Ireland.
